Mouwasat Hospital is a 300 bedded (JCI and CBAHI accredited) healthcare facility with 26 beds in the Emergency Department;

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working in shifts to asses all cases presenting to ED along with the assessment of patients from previous shift and review of patients in triage who does not require urgent emergency measures.
• To provide skilled health assessment including detailed clinical history, complete physical examination, ordering necessary blood workup and imaging studies to reach a provisional diagnosis, and accordingly formulating a plan of management.
• To respond to all types of medical/surgical emergencies and to provide necessary resuscitation measures until takeover by the concerned specialty.
• To do various skills and procedures appropriate to my level and experience.
• Discussing various treatment options for the disease with patients and their families, providing health education and compliance with the treatment.
• Treating patients with empathy and maintaining their confidentiality, and responding to their queries and concerns.
• To maintain accurate medical records regarding all care provided and education/information given to the patients/ relatives.
• To abide by the local policies, procedures, ethical standards, and laws regarding the delivery of medical care.
• To participate in department meetings to discuss problems, possible improvements, and solutions to provide high-quality care to our patients.
• To keep in mind my limitations and to seek advice from my seniors for help and support where appropriate.

• Treat acute and chronic illnesses according to the latest guidelines in practice.
• Provide preventive care and education to patients, taking into consideration the biological, psychological and social factors relevant to the care of each patient's illness.
• Manage types of illness that present in an undifferentiated way at an early stage of development, which may require urgent intervention.
• Refer patients who need specialist advise regarding their further management.

Working in surgical subspecialties Department (Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Urology and Maxillo-facial);

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working with other members of healthcare team to provide direct care to patients.
• Ensure that correct diagnostic and therapeutic plans are instituted including pre and post operation plan of management as advised by consultants.
• Review patient's progress daily and to write a note on each patient admitted and their plan of management.
• Deal with difficult situations and refer to the consultant(s) when problems arise which are beyond my authority and/or experience and oversee and advise.
• Active participation in staff meetings, morning lectures and rounds.
• Participation in some operations as assistant to specialists and consultants such as removal of a brain tumor, microscopic transsphenoidal pituitary adenectomy, arthroscopic ACL tear repair, etc...
• Worked in different shifts and on-calls to take care of admitted patients and respond to emergency department consultations.
