RCHSP-EMS internship period is designed to provide intern and new employees a set period to become familiar with the departmental functions, policies, and careers.
Internship period is designed to provide feedback to the intern, and to a new employee to let them know where you stand in your progression as a paramedic in the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) field, therefore they are encouraged to ask frequent questions regarding patient care and departmental policies.
Throughout the internship, the majority of the training will be in patient care. It is our goal to allow interns to gain experience in as many field-related situations as possible during their internship period; interns will be assigned with a paramedic on each shift who will provide you with instruction, direction, supervision, guidance, and experience. This will assist the intern in applying critical skills in a variety of situations; learn how to quickly and effectively develop sound judgment, and providing excellent EMS service, in addition, the preceptor will provide written and oral feedback on your progress in daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Purpose of Internship

Paramedic Training officers as well as the internship coordinator will provide supervision and evaluation during the internship program. The intern will complete 1000+ clinical hours in addition to meeting other set goals within 6 months. The interns will be supervised while working in the pre-hospital care settings. During this time, the intern will be able to apply the knowledge and skills learned during the instructive and lab setting.
