As a highly motivated Professional Coach, I bring a wealth of experience spanning over 40 years in the sport at both National and International arenas. With a dual perspective as both an accomplished athlete and a seasoned coach, I have developed and possess many skills and characteristics to gain a competitive advantage at the cutting edge of the sport.


My expertise covers a vast spectrum of the sport including supreme technical/tactical knowledge in track and road cycling and refined skills in athlete preparation, biomechanics, performance analysis, nutrition, recognising psychological traits for elite level performance and working with expert Service Providers to extract the best out of athletes.


Armed with world-recognized UCI Level 3 Coaching qualifications, I have navigated every echelon of the coaching pathway, from Talent Identification to International Coaching Delivery, consistently delivering exceptional results that have culminated in leading and delivering Australia's most exceptional athletes to the Australian Cycling Team.


I have mastered the art of tracking and monitoring performance against global benchmarks and have an innate ability in extracting the best out of athletes through inspiration, empowerment, building strong relationships, and maintaining open communication channels to ensure individual needs are met and collaborative efforts flourish.


In essence, my journey as a Professional Coach is defined by a relentless pursuit of excellence, an unwavering commitment to innovation, and a passion for nurturing talent. I'm driven by the desire to inspire athletes and fellow coaches towards peak performance and unparalleled success on the global stage.

Work History

Head Cycling Coach

South Australian Sports Institute, SASI
07.2014 - Current

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the SASI cycling program, including technical design and implementation of training / competition programs
  • Mentor and develop pathway coaches to align goals, coaching principles and targeted outcomes
  • Manage cycling program logistics, finances and strategic planning
  • Case-manage and coach individual athletes for progression into the National Team
  • Provide a high quality and safe DTE for the largest SIS/SAS Cycling Program in the Country with up to 30 athletes a year under management


Achievements:

  • 9 of the 16 Track Cycling Athletes who competed in 2016 RIO Olympics were SASI supported graduates
  • 7 SASI graduates were selected to go to Tokyo 2020 Olympics
  • On track for a potential 7 SASI Athletes out of 14 National athletes to be selected for 2024 Paris Olympics in Track Cycling
  • 7 of the 13 athletes selected were current SASI athletes, when the inaugural Podium Potential Academy was established at the end of 2018
  • Additional 4 athletes progressed into PPA in the 4 years since its establishment
  • Coached over 50+ National & World Champions over 10 years at SASI
  • Undefeated in the National Women's Elite Team Pursuit, (Priority Olympic Event) from 2017 to 2024 and current National Champions in both Junior men and Junior Women Team Pursuit
  • Demonstrated strong eye for talent and ability to nurturing it through to national representation. Developed program into premier SIS/SAS Cycling Program in Australia in disciplines of Sprint, Endurance, PARA
  • Coached strong contingent of females that made up Podium and Podium Potential National Squad, three of whom were part of the Team Pursuit winning team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games (personally coached from Talent ID through to SASI before representing Australia)
  • Successfully led State Teams to numerous 'Overall Best State' at National Championships.
  • Facilitated and managed HP network and numerous live and virtual Cycling Camps during first year of COVID 19
  • Managed program budget and finances to ensure budget targets were met
  • Liaised regularly with parents, to keep them informed of the program. Communicated the requirements of their children and provided an opportunity for their voice to be heard
  • Developed, mentored and collaborated with various club, state coaches and regional athletes to provide opportunities for growth
  • Instigated and collaborated with Limestone Coast Regional Sporting Academy to include and support cycling as a key sport which is now a major feeder of athletes into SASI

Interim National Men's Track Endurance Coach

  • World Cup Gold Medal with four new National Team debutant's who rode to success at the Milton Nation’s Cup
