I worked as a General Practitioner in the Emergency Department at Al Qassimi Hospital, the largest teaching hospital under the Ministry of Health in the United Arab Emirates. During my tenure, I gained extensive experience managing a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, paediatric, and orthopaedic emergencies. I was also actively involved in teaching medical students from the University of Sharjah, delivering bedside teaching and clinical supervision within the Emergency Department.
I worked as a Locum and Attachment Doctor at Al Qassimi Hospital, the largest teaching hospital under the Ministry of Health in the United Arab Emirates. During this period, I rotated through several departments, including Orthopaedics, Emergency Medicine, and Surgery. This hands-on experience significantly enhanced my clinical and procedural skills, particularly in suturing, managing orthopaedic emergencies, and treating paediatric cases in the Emergency Department. It was an enjoyable and formative time in my early career, providing valuable exposure to a wide range of acute presentations in a busy teaching hospital setting.
I completed a one-year internship from December 2006 to December 2007 across Al Qassimi Hospital, Al Kuwaiti Hospital, and various primary health centres under the Ministry of Health in the UAE. This internship is equivalent to the Foundation Years in the UK healthcare system. I rotated through multiple departments, including General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Radiology, and Plastic Surgery. The experience was both enriching and enjoyable, providing me with a solid clinical foundation and broad exposure to patient care across various specialities.
Six months after graduating from medical school in Sudan, I undertook a clinical attachment in the Emergency Department at Al Qassimi Hospital while seeking employment opportunities in the United Arab Emirates. This period was a valuable and enjoyable experience, during which I observed a wide variety of emergency cases and developed a strong understanding of the healthcare system and clinical practices in the UAE.
