Ph.D. Dissertation Title: Identification of mangrove endophytes from Jeddah coast and their effect in alleviating the salinity stress in Vigna radiata (L) R. Wilczek
Abstract: Our study was to investigate the isolated and identified mangrove endophytic bacteria from Avicennia marina from the red sea Jeddah coastal region of Saudi Arabia and explore its alleviating effects against salinity stress in mung bean (Vigna radiata) at different NaCl concentration (150mM -550mM). The study concludes that the application of endophytic bacteria from the halophytes like mangroves can confer the glycophytic crop or any other crop plant to a similar salt-resistance potential and boost the plant growth and crop productivity.
Masters Dissertation Title: Effect of Cotton Ginning Mill Industrial Effects on Soil Enzyme Activity
Abstract: Release of untreated cotton industrial effluents on to the agricultural lands causes indicative changes in the nutrient cycling. The physicochemical, biological properties and soil enzyme activities such as cellulose, amylase, protease and urease were examined in our studies. The experimental results indicated that most of the physicochemical properties and selected enzyme activity were significantly higher in the test sample than in the control.
