I was fully integrated into the processing of specimens by taking the primary responsibility for grossing the specimens, dictating the cases, viewing the case slides, writing the pathology reports, contributing to the final diagnosis and attending the sign-out of the cases with the assigned consultant, also I was participating in intraoperative consultation by taking the responsibility for grossing the specimen and smears if needed under supervision from qualified consultants, attending the technical processing of the specimen, participating sometimes in staining of the specimen, viewing the case with the assigned consultant and participating sometimes for delivering the frozen section diagnosis to the clinician.

Also, I attended the following educational activities during my training:

  • Basic lecture course for R1 residents.
  • Journal clubs.
  • Case Presentations.
  • Microscope slide teaching sessions.
  • Regional pathology club meetings.

I participated in journal club discussion, case presentations and in research activities, such as writing case report related to my specialty.

I finished 2 months rotation in cytopathology and I learned cytological preparation methods and being able to describe the findings of light microscopy and being familiar with the concept of cell block preparation and its practical uses, being able as well to interpret the findings to provide an accurate diagnosis or differential diagnosis, attended FNA procedures and reviewing the slides with cytoscreener and cytopathologist.
