  • Company Overview: S-Chem is producing several types of chemicals like Ethylene, Polyethylene, Propylene, Polypropylene, Benzene, Ethylbenzene, Hexane, Cyclohexane, Pygas and Mogas.
  • Independently managing multiple projects (mechanical/E&I/civil) inside the S-Chem plant as per the requirements from the end user departments and each project values varies from USD 1.5 M to 10.00 M.
  • Part of my responsibility I need to understand the technical specifications and technical composition of each product while executing the projects related to respective production plant.
  • I am responsible to develop the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) which includes project requirements or preliminary project scope, P&ID's and PFD's markups, piping tie-in location identification, plot plan markings, identification of high-level project risks or hazards, preliminary project cost estimates (±50%), preliminary project schedule or milestones (level 1), and required project material specifications and standards to be considered during the detailed engineering phase.
  • Current responsibilities include project execution through CPDEP process, issuance of weekly and monthly project reports to stakeholders, Design, constructability & HAZOP reviews, preparation of project frames, scopes, estimates, schedules, GRT presentations AFD's, AFE's & project execution plan and manage the MOC's and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR).
  • Current responsibilities include develop the project assurance plan, project standards and specifications related to the particular project, project specific safety plan and develop the project execution plan including the capital budget forecasting and monitoring regularly.
  • Responsibility includes to ensure the periodic inspection and structural integrity of all the plant structures like pipe racks, pipe supports, equipment foundations, RCC cooling towers, control buildings, substation building, warehouse buildings and underground concrete structures.
  • Successfully completed automatic fixed water protection for the Aromax process pumps (14 Nos). This project includes installation for automatic fixed water spray skids, U/G and above ground fire water lines installation (around 1200 M) and its DCS configuration.
  • Successfully completed fire panel alarm, HVAC panel and PDT DCS configuration at central control rooms (4 nos.) as part of safe haven project.
  • Good experience in review and development of sheets related to various instruments, control valves, process equipment's and process pumps.
  • Good experience in concrete structures (RCC) integrity inspection and concrete repair works using modern technologies. I have involved in major concrete structures like sea water sumps, oily water underground sumps, RCC cooling towers repair works in the plant. We have used advanced modern technologies to identify the deficiencies in RCC structure and quick setting chemical components for the repair works.
  • Successfully completed replacement of number of process exchangers. Reboilers and process pumps, control valves, different types of analyzers, XV's, flow, pressure, and temperature transmitters in different production plants.
  • Successfully completed upgrading of old flow computers / SCADA system for metering skids, replacement of the old turbine meters with new Coriolis meters, and replacement of compressor motor (9000 HP).
  • Successfully completed number of major plant turnaround activities (SPCO, SCP and JCP) including plant start up works. Estimated total cost of each turnaround is around 150 million US dollars and total manpower worked during the turnaround period was around 8000 people.

Senior Project Engineer

  • Independently handled several infra structure and expansion projects inside the HADEED plant as per the requirements from the end user departments and each project values varies from $ 2.0 M to $ 30 M.
  • I was responsible to prepare the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) package based on the project scope requirements. FEED package includes project scope, material specifications, identification of underground facilities, preparation of initial cost estimation and preliminary project milestones, plot plan marking for the proposed project location, identification of utility connections tie-in locations and identification of engineering deliverables in each discipline. FEED package includes preliminary risk assessment and HAZOP study reports and project feasibility study reports as well.
  • During this period, I was involved in the plant structural integrity program. My responsibility was review of Inspection Test Plans (ITP), construction method of statements, periodic inspection of all the plant structures like equipment foundations, furnaces, refractories, utility structures, underground sumps, and manholes, all the plant buildings, pipe racks structural members and pipe support foundations and fireproof concrete as well. Structural integrity inspection will be conducted according to the approved inspection checklists and rectification recommendations will be provided based on the technical evaluation. I was responsible for civil contracts management which are related to excavation, rebar and RCC works.
  • Successfully completed number of the concrete structures (RCC) repairs works like buildings, support foundations, underground sumps and dike walls. Concrete repair works was carried out using various modern technologies, equipment's and chemicals.
  • Successfully completed renovation of utility process control room. This job involves renovation of DCS consoles, replacement of process cables and power cables (both HV and LV), upgrading of power panels and installation of fire gas suppression system (foam) and related fire alarm panel installation and fire alarm configuration.
  • Worked in HADEED Long Product Expansion (HLPE) Project. This is a mega project and total project value is around 550.0 million USD. I was worked in this project as client (owner) representative and my main responsibilities are final inspections of all the facilities like administration and office buildings, furnace areas, fume ducts, process areas, scale pits, warehouses (prefabricated buildings) and refractory storage areas (prefabricated buildings), Alloy Storage building (prefabricated buildings) electrical substations, hydraulic rooms, equipment foundations, steel structures and pipe racks, all the underground and above ground utilities, walkways and internal roads etc. final walkthrough with the PMT team, raising and closing punch points, review of project close out documents and contractual issues.
  • Apart from the above project I have successfully executed many other infrastructure projects like construction of three admin buildings, fabrications shops, fire station, process water station building and expansion of ISD building. Each project value varies between $ 4.0 M - $ 10.0 M.

  • Worked on the Northern Area Wastewater System Upgrade Project for Saudi Aramco with total value of around USD 120 million.
  • The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing oily water sewer system and the sanitary system by replacing the existing CS pipes by higher size diameter RTR pipes, by replacing new self-priming pumps, by installing new sewage treatment plant. This project involves related electrical and instrument jobs as well.
  • It involves construction of many major structures like, control buildings, sewage treatment plant building, oily water lift stations, oily sewer manholes, and sanitary sewer manholes, valve boxes, decant and effluent storage tanks fabrication and installation, construction of evaporation ponds and skimmer chambers and neutralization pits or chambers. Installation of U/G oily water and sewage pipelines, API separators, Membrane Bioreactors (MBR), submersible/self-priming horizontal pumps, pipe supports and pipe rack foundations, construction of storm water drains are part of this project.

  • Initially I have worked as QS engineer and my responsibility was material quantity take off as per the IFC drawing, compute the actual site quantity based on the daily progress, subcontractor invoice quantity verification and helping project control team.
  • Later I have worked as site engineer and efficiently handled construction of over 2000 structural foundations, substations, process control building, analyzer building, Storm water and rainwater ditches, Concrete dike walls around the chemical storage tanks.
