Summary

I have been working in radiology field for 13 years including my training program. I have been working for 7 years in Saudi Arabia as a General Consultant Radiologist. During my practice in Saudi Arabia I have been independently covering all types of radiology modalities including conventional radiology, Ultrasound, CT and MRI, along with supervising radiology residents and Junior radiologists.

Throughout my career journey, I was keen on achieving, not just doing. I always raise the bar for myself and set my standards high. I passed the Egyptian Radiology Board exam on my first attempt achieving the first rank. I passed the final parts of the FRCR ( 2A&2B) as well as the EDiR exam, and the Occupational English Test on the first attempt.

I never feel satisfied or settled, instead, I push harder and go harder. Although my work in Saudi Arabia is a typical comfort zone, with a very good salary and friendly atmosphere, I decided to quit it and move to the UK, aiming to enhance my career as a general radiologist and develop my interest in neuroradiolgy.

I am looking forward to develop more in Neuroimaging and Chest Imaging. I am also passionate about resuming my practice of Breast Imaging. I am confident that my current skills provide me with the capability to show the highest standard of performance as a consultant radiologist .

Management and leadership

- The emergency shift is a practical experience of leadership. Covering an ER shift is extremely stressful for the team, including junior doctors, residents and technicians. As a consultant, I was responsible the team during my shifts. Of course, it is not easy to lead a stressed, anxious and burnt-out team, however, I succeeded in providing the best possible service to patients, in collaboration with the wh team, even in the most difficult times.

- Ongoing preparation for CPHQ test.

Teamworking

- Team working as routine and everyday practice. For example, during hectic ER Ultrasoun shifts, I was always able to control the situation, support the overwhelmed sonographers and effectively communicate with the patients, in order to creat a smooth-running and harmonious workplace . Furthermore, I discuss with the clinicians the best imaging modality required for the patients as well as results of the examinations. I also discuss CT and MRI protocols with the technicians, if any modification of the routine protocol is needed. That is how team working is the normal practice in my job.

- Arrangement of rota, especially during holidays, covering the duty/shift of a colleague in emergencies and discussing difficult/interesting cases with colleagues are also examples of working in a team, on daily basis.
