n the outpatient clinic and under the supervision of Dr. David Popiel MD,MPH. My duties in the Medical Faculty Associates included taking history, performing physical examinations, come up with an assessment and treatment plan. This experience allowed me to :

• Be oriented with the clinical setting.
• Have exposure to wide range diseases.
• Practice and understand the importance of preventive medicine.
• Educate and counsel patients to understand the nature of different diseases, and how lifestyle changes is a key to improving our overall health.
• Be familiarized with patient management in primary care settings, gain insight into the approach of a patient diagnosis and the steps of management.
• Become familiar with medical software, documentation and writing patient-focused notes.
• Learn and practice the use of electronic medical information systems, patient health records, laboratory, diagnostic and other clinical reports.
• Attend the daily morning report.
• Attend the daily ground lectures during lunch break.
• Become familiar with the American healthcare system.

For the inpatient part my duties included admitting patients to either ward or ICU, ordering lab tests and imaging (if applicable) and then a discussion about the differential diagnosis with the attending doctor and the coarse of management during patients stay in the hospital and whether a Consultation from another department is needed or not. We then follow up with the patients on our team list, until they are discharged, or another admission day comes.
