- 1. Assist in the care of patients under the direct supervision of licensed health professionals
- Follow instructions provided by nurses, doctors, or other licensed health professionals to support patient care.
- Perform tasks such as checking vital signs blood pressure, heart rate, temperature as delegated.
- Report changes in patients' physical or emotional condition to the supervising nurse promptly.
- Ensure all care provided is documented accurately and shared with the appropriate team members.
- 2. Receives and endorses incoming and outgoing shift nursing attendants
- At the beginning and end of each shift, participate in a thorough handover with the nursing team.
- Discuss patient conditions, care plans, and any concerns or observations noted during the previous shift.
- Ensure continuity of care by clearly communicating all important details, such as patient-specific needs or medical interventions.
- 3. Disinfects stretchers before and after patients use
- Follow infection control protocols to clean and disinfect stretchers, ensuring patient safety and preventing the spread of infection.
- Use appropriate disinfectants and cleaning materials per hospital or facility guidelines.
- Verify that the stretcher is in working condition before placing it back in service.
- 4. Checks working condition of equipment, instruments, fixtures, appliances, etc., does inventory of the same, and reports findings to the head/charge nurse
- Conduct regular inspections of medical equipment, examples blood pressure monitors, wheelchairs, thermometers and other tools.
- Note any damages, malfunctions, or shortages of equipment and promptly report them to the head or charge nurse.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE), and restock as necessary.
- 5. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Bathing: Provide assistance with bathing, whether by helping with sponge baths, using a shower chair, or preparing a safe environment for independent washing.
- Dressing: Help patients select weather-appropriate or condition-appropriate clothing and assist in dressing if required.
- Grooming: Support patients with tasks such as brushing their teeth, combing hair, shaving, or nail care, promoting dignity and personal hygiene.
- Toileting: Offer assistance with toileting needs, including helping patients use the bathroom, providing bedpans, or changing adult diapers as needed. Ensure privacy and respect throughout.
- 6. Performs postmortem care and transports cadavers to the morgue
- Clean and prepare the deceased patient's body with dignity and respect, following hospital policies.
- Assist in positioning the body in a supine position, closing the eyes, and ensuring any necessary documentation is complete.
- Transport the cadaver to the morgue using the designated equipment, ensuring adherence to infection control and confidentiality protocols.
- 7. Transports endorsed patients to wards
- Safely move patients to assigned wards from emergency, operating rooms, or other departments.
- Verify patient identity and destination to ensure accurate transfers.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to the patient during transportation.
- 8. Facilitates patient transport for radiologic procedures
- Prepare patients for radiologic tests examples: X-rays, CT Scans, MRIs by ensuring they are appropriately dressed and ready.
- Monitor the patient safely using wheelchairs or stretchers, adhering to radiology department schedules.
- Stay with the patient if necessary and assist them in returning to their room post-procedure.
- 9. Changes empty oxygen tanks and refills oxygen humidifier

- Refill and maintain oxygen humidifiers to ensure proper functioning for patients on supplemental oxygen.
- Follow safety guidelines when handling and storing oxygen equipment
- 10. Does nursing procedures like skin preparation, enema, assists in manual resuscitation, and other nursing procedures as delegated by the nurse-on-duty (NOD)
