• Leadership, development and performance of a designated work team.
• Enable the full range of social work intervention methodologies to be used.
• Contribute to the professional knowledge base.
• Reinforce professional ethics and standards in decision making.
• Exercise delegations wisely and fairly.
• Identify opportunities to develop client participation and consultation in a holistic manner where possible.
• Provide supervision, staff development and appraisals, manage work pressures and conflict resolution.
• Contribute to strategic leadership and business planning across DCP.
• Contribute to a work environment where staff are challenged and stretched to develop their competence, and encouraged and provided with opportunities for professional development.

The Senior Practitioner is a role within DCP and is accountable to the Supervisor for:

• Promoting quality outcomes for clients in direct service delivery.
• Consult with team members about professional practice issues, departmental policies, procedures, legislation and staff development needs.
• Assist staff in planning and preparation of difficult case conferences, assessment panels, court hearings and reports.
• Chair selected case conferences, assessment panel meetings and preparing reports when appropriate.
• ·Co-work on complex cases.

The Social Worker is a role within DCP and is accountable to the Supervisor for:

• Undertaking child protection investigations and assessments.
