Appointed as Group HSSE Manager for the Operations & Maintenance (FM) and Construction divisions of the company. This position entailed the overall planning and preparation of company execution models, HSE Management system development and implementation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, operational HSE oversight of 79 Operations and Maintenance projects and 7 major construction infrastructure projects that includes the construction of international airports and multi-level high rise buildings

  • Develop an integrated corporate HSE Management System based on KSA HSE legislation, ISO45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO22301 system requirements and company risk profile

Appointed as Senior HSE Manager for the execution of numerous large capital projects in various sectors.

Sectors including Oil & Gas, Mining & Metals, Infrastructure and Energy & Chemicals.

The projects were predominantly EPCM, EPC, PCM and CM contracts. Projects included the Front End Engineering and Design phase (FEED) up to project close out.

Projects lead in my capacity as Senior HSE Manager included the Debswana Jwaneng Cut 8 project (450mm USD), Eastplats Concentrator (250mm USD), Debswana Letlhakane Mine Tailings Project (500mm USD), Sasol GHHER Project (700mm USD) and Sasol 17 Oxygen Train OBL Scope (350mm USD). These project were located in Botswana and South Africa that meant working with a large diversity of cultures and ethnic groups.

Responsibilities included developing HSE systems, execution plans and the implementation thereof during the execution of the projects. This included but not limited to;

  • Development of Project HSE Execution Plans,
  • Development of Business Continuity Management Plans,
  • Development of Emergency and Disaster Recovery Plans,
  • Prepare HSSE Manual and specification in accordance with local statutory and client requirements,
  • Risk Management Master Plans including project Base Line Risk Assessments and Risk Mitigation Plans,
  • Development of HSE Training plans and training material (training modules),
  • Development and tailoring of Fluor's Global HSE Management system to cater for project requirements,
  • Development of incident and Near Miss reporting protocols,
  • Analysed Health & Safety statistics using software to identify trends and mitigate risks.

The projects were predominantly Turnkey EPCM with management of execution contractors. Projects completed were Rio Tinto's QMM Power Plant (60mm USD), Tan-Tan Power Generation Plant, Morocco (1.62bn USD), Dakhla Power Plant Extension, Morocco (27mm USD) and Kribi Gas Power Plant, Cameroon (290mm USD).

Responsibilities included developing HSE systems, execution plans and the implementation thereof during the execution of the projects. This included but not limited to;

It is supplied with crude oil by a 600 km pipeline from Durban harbor. Due to its geographical location, it is a high white product yield refinery with complex unit operations throughout.

Appointed as the Principle HSE Practitioner for the refinery's projects division responsible for the overall planning and coordination of capital projects and shutdowns.
