Summary

Sparked by the kaleidoscope of African tales told by award-winning storyteller, Gcina Mhlophe, at the age of 10 – my love for creating memorable stories and experiences continues to be the foundation of my personal and career odyssey. I'm a creative strategist with a passion for all things African. My 16-year-long career journey has led me into the worlds of journalism, marketing and communications – where crafting compelling communication strategies remains key in developing, growing and positively enhancing the reputation of any brand.

My journey began in the glossy magazine pages of True Love Magazine, followed by 'lights, cameras and loads of action' when I joined the marketing cast at SABC3. Four years later, the broadcast lights dimmed and the credits rolled, but a new narrative was soon written, ushering in an exciting chapter full of brand experiences at The Communications Firm. Here, I had the opportunity to harness my brand communication and strategy development skills while working on SA Brewery brands such as Castle Milk Stout, Hansa Pilsener and Redds. My journey took a step change in 2013 when I joined the financial services sector at Nedbank (for 4 years) and later Absa – providing strategic communication counsel for their group corporate brand and retail banking businesses. I have been part of the BlackSwan team as a senior consulting strategist (brand, communications) and writer since 2019, working on the Telkom Consumer and Business brands, Absa RBB, Clicks, MakwaIT, as well as Puma Energy accounts.

  • Development of the RBB editorial calendar and messaging tactics. To assist in creating awareness of various business strategy messages and milestones through alternative communications tactics/methods.
