  • I was elected as the inaugural chairperson of the board and approved of by my community and elders at our first general meeting. I was re-elected for a second term in November 2022.
  • In December 2022 and February 2023, Wirangu were recognised as having Native Title and Sea Native Title across our lands.
  • Manange all Native Title matters and issues on behalf of Wirangu People.
  • Gained proficient understanding in the state and commonwealth Heritage and Native Title legislation.

  • Working across a number of Catholic schools across Adelaide, where I work with Indigenous students from different backgrounds (e.g Intellectual disabilities) and assist with getting them engaged with their schooling.
  • Building rapport with students that is culturally inclusive.
  • Primarily worked with First Nations students at Thomas Moore College who were not regularly engaging with school. After coming to the school every Friday, these students started to attend regularly and our sessions became their weekly highlights for school.

WESTMINSTER SCHOOL

  • I mentor and tutor First Nations students who attend Westminster as boarders through the Smith Family scholarship program.
  • Boarders are predominately from rural and remote areas, which makes the transition to the city quite hard.
  • Through this role I work with students to achieve their goals and complete their schooling whilst maintaining cultural autonomy.
  • I have seen many of my students go on to university and becoming my peers, and also entering the workforce.
  • I have worked with students where english is often the second or third language, and assisted in breaking down assignments to help them achieve success in schooling.
  • Outside of mentoring and tutoring, I chaperone students to community and other events.

Rainbow Tick Advisory Board Member

  • AHCSA were undergoing the steps to become Rainbow Tick accredited and I had been appointed on the Advisory Committee overseeing the progress of this.
  • This resulted in AHCSA becoming the first peak Indigenous health body in Australia to be Rainbow Tick accredited.
  • I was involved in LGBTQIA+ presentations delivered to all AHCSA staff, to create awareness and competency when engaging with LGBTQIA+ clients and stakeholders. Presentations were created to reflect First Nations LGBTQIA+ people and communities.
