• Fire Protection Systems: Leading the design and engineering of complete fire protection systems, including sprinkler system, suppression systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting and infrastructure distribution for complex projects
• Review material submittals and shop drawings, ensuring fire protection requirements are communicated clearly to the project team
• Review project design documents to ensure that all privately developed projects comply with applicable codes, regulations, standards and laws
• Ability to present clear and technically sound engineering strategies, assess review results with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in application and interpretation of the Following codes & standards: NFPA 10, 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, 25, 72, 291 & 2001 (National Fire Protection Association), IBC (International Building Codes), IFC (International Fire Codes)
• Maintain data accuracy, track proposal quality, and ensure compliance with all submission requirements.
• Inspects the final systems after they are constructed or installed to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations and standards
• Lead and manage current and future projects ensuring that financial targets of the Project are met and exceeded, developing existing relationships with key clients and delivering fire safety engineering solutions, conducting Mechanical and Electrical Fire systems design, review and construction inspection
• Provide Technical Solutions to Clients & oversee and peer review the work of Engineering staff, maintaining a high level of professional awareness of technical matters in the fire industry, providing updates and briefings as required
• Conduct onsite inspections during project construction to ensure adherence to the fire strategy throughout the project lifecycle
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams along with proficiency in using engineering software and tools related to fire protection design including AutoCAD
• Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national fire safety regulations, including NFPA standards, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation.
• Quality Control: Ensure the projects adhere to quality standards and regulations
• Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, technical specifications, and change orders.
• Reporting and Tools: Ensure accurate and timely reporting standards are maintained throughout the project(s)
• Testing: Prepare and perform testing protocols per NFPA relevant standards for all fire related equipment such as but not limited to: All types of fixed firefighting systems, fire water systems, fire pumps, foam pumps, smoke and fire detectors systems.
• Witness Inspections, Preparation of Snag reports, developing contractors, deficiency reports, developing inspection strategies, improvement of process and escalations
• Handing over the project to clients with complete documents like warranty certificates, As-built drawings, operational manuals, and complete training of electrical systems
• Undertakes review/evaluation of existing fixed systems and recommends actions to be taken to improve system reliability and effectiveness
• Trains and mentors' junior staff within the department, in other departments, at design consulting companies and contractor staff on the technical details and code interpretations for fire protection systems
• Develop and maintain fire protection department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as directed by the fire protection head.
