I am a compassionate teacher possessing excellent communication skills. I aim to inspire and motivate students to learn. I am committed to creating a stimulating environment that enables students to reach their full potential and enjoy the process of learning. I strive to communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, their families, and my colleagues.
As a Learning Support teacher, I assess, plan, and offer effective learning intervention and support to children who require additional support in their education, regardless of their SEN status. I provide individualized and small-group support to these students and keep detailed records of the interventions used with each of them.
I am proactive in researching and identifying ways to support students' needs and offer in-class support to students with SEN under the supervision of the Head of the Secondary Learning Support Department & SENCo, and in cooperation with the classroom teacher. Additionally, I invigilate both internal and external exams for students requiring Access Arrangements and contribute to the timetabling of these exams when directed by the Head of the Secondary Learning Support Department & SENCo.
I assist students who require 1:1 Access Arrangements such as a reader, scribe, etc., and support them to become independent, cooperative, and collaborative learners. I am also responsible for making and updating key worker students' Learner passports, in accordance with the Learning Support Department's systems and processes.
My duties also include maintaining and updating the Learning Support Department's tracking, recording, and monitoring systems, assisting the Head of the Secondary Learning Support Department & SENCo with clerical and administrative tasks, and liaising with external agencies such as therapy centers and psychiatrists when directed by the Head of the Secondary Learning Support Department & SENCo.
Furthermore, I support students in reviewing their learning and help them move forward with their educational journey by embodying school-wide Teaching & Learning strategies such as Common Language, etc. I also support the transition of students with SEN from Y6 to Y7, as well as new students with SEN into the Secondary Section. Finally, I endeavour to build confidence in students by developing rapport and creating a supportive and welcoming work environment.
In addition to my other responsibilities, I am also an ESL teacher. I design lesson plans, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to help non-native speakers improve their English language skills.
Furthermore, I am a Lego-based therapist affiliated with Brick by Brick Academy. This social development program uses Lego activities to help children with autism and other social communication difficulties develop a wide range of social skills in a group setting. By capitalizing on their love for Lego play, as well as their strengths and interests, I use these sessions to help them improve their communication and social skills. I offer these sessions at school.
