Since 2020, managed to establish the research departments from ground zero in two different hospitals at Jeddah city of KSA namely King Fahd General Hospital and Al-Thagher Hospital. Was responsible for all research activities taking place at the facilities. From 2020 to present. My day-to-day tasks include:

  • Monitor and supervise research conduction and progress on behalf of principal investigators.
  • Develop and monitor department policies, operational plan, and indicators.
  • Develop plans for employees development to enhance health research skills and knowledge.
  • Establish strong relationships with external partners to facilitate collaborative research efforts and knowledge exchange.
  • Strengthen organization's reputation, presenting at international conferences on various topics related to our core areas of focus.
  • Coordinating and facilitating research activities in adherence to GCP.
  • Principal investigator or sub investigator on multiple studies.

Senior Specialist-Dental Public Health

In 2018 and in collaboration with the Department of Preventive Medicine at King Fahd Hospital, Jeddah, KSA, a research team has been developed in attempt to improve the dental research capacity and output in the department.

Besides being a researcher, I involved myself actively in project and change management, managing the following projects with the dental center at Al-Thagher Hospital, Jeddah, KSA.

o Provider to Provider: Transferring expertise not patients. Project & change manager: Marwah Afeef, 2022.

  • Project aims to improve communication and coordination of care between members of the health care team and the person receiving care which contributes to reducing the number of unnecessary referrals for specialized consultations and reduce the waiting times required to present cases to the specialist.

o Improving orthodontic patients' oral hygiene self-efficacy. Project & change manager: Marwah Afeef, 2022.

  • Understand the impact of applying the framework proposed by the Behavioral Unit at the Ministry of Health on changing behavior and promoting oral and dental health among beneficiaries.

o Care for the carers: Better Oral Health in Residential Care. Project & change manager: Marwah Afeef, 2019.

  • Assessment of oral health status and needs of the residents to determine what needs to be done to improve their oral health and their access to dental care

o Motivational Behavior Change & Oral Health Education Clinic. Project & change manager: Marwah Afeef, 2019.

  • The application of the COM-B Model to understand the social and psychological factors behind poor oral health, so that interventions be designed to meet the patient needs.

  • Health Research Foundation, Saudi National Institute of Health (June 2024): This course provided a comprehensive foundation in research methods relevant to the health sector. I gained valuable insights into the research process, from study design and data collection to analysis and dissemination of findings.
  • Fundamentals of Data Management for Health Research, Saudi National Institute of Health (June 2024): This course equipped me with essential skills for effective data management in health research. I learned about data quality principles, data collection methods, data storage and security best practices, and basic data analysis techniques.
  • Training forum for local ethics committees, National Committee of Bioethics (December 2022): This forum equipped me with the latest information and best practices for the evaluation of research from ethical standpoint and protecting the participants in the research within local ethics committees.
