Michael Robinson

I was stationed up north in Exmouth, WA working a FIFO role on the construction of large antenna for the Australian Defence Force. This job consisted of pre-fabricating the antenna, then installing them on their designated sites. Many of roles consisted of rigging roles.

Key responsibilities include:

• Safe handling of rigging equipment & machinery
• Following site SWMS and weekly safety plans
• Communication with crane crew while fixing steel

I worked on many projects during this time mainly consisting of renovations on older buildings

Key responsibilities include:

• Working independently following all work health and safety procedures
• Organising with other trades when works will be ready
• Constructed and installed frameworks for residential and commercial buildings.
• Open communication with all parties involved.
• Ability to interpret plans and verbal instructions.

I was offered a position to move ahead within the company. This role consisted of reading building plans and accurately determining how much material per job and cost for sub-contractors to complete the work

Key responsibilities of the job included:

• Liaising with sales, clients and management regarding the build
• Negotiating costs with material suppliers
• A solid grasp of knowledge in the construction industry with appropriate communication between onsite and in house

I completed my carpentry apprenticeship. This work included the construction of residential homes in a coastal environment. The homes built were from base stage to hadover.
