Since April 2020, I have been a volunteer for the Qatif Central Hospital blood donation group, I am the youngest volunteer. At my first meeting, myself and the other new members were briefed on what the organization did and we were told how essential blood is and how it is in such short supply. My first role was to welcome donors and direct them to one of the doctors to obtain approval for blood draw. As I became more experienced the organizer gave me more responsibilities, including identifying, labeling and the correct storage of blood bags and so on. Today I have a total of 225 hours of volunteering which I am very proud to have contributed. I have also benefited from this experience, learning how to interact with people and talk confidently. I look forward to undertaking other voluntary opportunities in the future.
