• 1. Fire System Design & Engineering
• Classify fire hazards and design firefighting systems (sprinkler, hydrant, standpipe) in compliance with NFPA (10, 13, 14, 20, 2001, 130) and Saudi Civil Defence / local codes.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, sprinkler layout, fire pump sizing, and fire water demand analysis for all systems.
• Design fire alarm and detection systems (conventional/addressable) including smoke/heat detectors, manual call points, sounders, and emergency lighting.
• Prepare fire strategy reports, fire safety reports, and risk assessments for metro stations, tunnels, and depots.
• Review Contractor’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) packages based on (NFPA codes, SBC codes and GDCD requirements)
• Conduct a comprehensive technical review Contractor’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) documentation including but not limited to FLS/fire protection Shop Drawings, Material Submittals, Method Statements for testing, inspections, commissioning and handover of all passive and active fire protection systems
• Conduct Building Code Analysis and Gap Analysis as required by Contractor’s submissions
• Assess Construction site potential fire safety hazards, occupational health and safety hazards for buildings and facilities under Construction Supervision
• Conduct frequent site inspections for all passive and active fire systems with data collection and reporting
• Conduct testing, commissioning and hand-over site inspections for all passive and active fire protection systems with data collection and reporting
• Review and approve Contractor’s Fire Risk Assessments and review emergency evacuation plans.
• 2. Documentation & Tender Support
• Prepare pre-tender and post-tender engineering documents: Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Design Basis Report, scope of work, specifications, and technical submittals.
• Develop tender packages, execution drawings, and coordination drawings for firefighting and fire alarm systems.
• Review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and hydraulic calculations from contractors to ensure compliance with design and standards.
• 3. Project & Site Management
• Manage the fire protection scope for the project: schedule, budget, resources, and quality of firefighting and fire alarm work.
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of all fire systems (sprinkler, hydrant, standpipe, fire pumps, FM-200, fire alarm, emergency lighting) on site.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure work meets design, safety, and quality standards.
• 4. Coordination & Interface
• Coordinate closely with other disciplines: civil, structure, architecture, electrical, HVAC, and infrastructure teams to integrate fire systems into the overall design.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, client representatives, and authorities (Saudi Civil Defence, Metro Authority) on technical issues, approvals, and handover.
• Resolve technical clashes and interface issues using BIM (Revit, Navisworks) and coordination meetings.
• 5. Compliance & Handover
• Ensure all firefighting and fire alarm systems fully comply with NFPA, Saudi Civil Defence, and metro project fire safety requirements.
• Prepare O&M manuals, test records, and as-built documentation for fire systems.
• Support Civil Defence inspections and obtain Fire NOC / approval for stations, tunnels, and depots.
