I am an experienced physician with 10 years of Obstetrics and gynaecology experience, and 2 years post-CCT consultant experience.

Specific interest in the following:-

1- Benign Gynaecology service - I am currently the lead for benign gynaecology services. I cover 1 stop clinics, general gynaecology clinics and early pregnancy clinics.

2- Gynaecology oncology service- I am the deputy lead for gynaecology oncology service. I cover one stop clinics, MDT meetings and main theatre operations lists.

3- Benign Gynaecology surgery - I have a special interest in ambulatory care, outpatient hysteroscopy, and day-case surgery.

4- Laparoscopic gynecologic surgery - I have a special interest in advanced laparoscopy - I perform several laparoscopic procedures including laparoscopic hysterectomies.

5- Obstetrics and antenatal care - I have a special interest in diabetes antenatal care, obesity antenatal care, maternal medicine and general antenatal care.

6- I have regular main theatre list where I perform major operations including difficult open hysterectomies, myomectomies, laparoscopic hysterectomies and others.

7- Ultrasound scanning - I have a postgraduate certificate in ultrasound with distinction. I perform gynaecology and early pregnancy to an advanced level. I also perform advanced obstetrics ultrasound scans.

8- Teaching / Mentoring / Supersion - I am particularly interested in staff development and teaching, I was assigned an honorary tutor title from Cardiff University as a recognition for teaching medical students.

Consultant responsibilities for both obstetrics and gynaecology fields, Besides the lead role for benign gynaecology services & junior ultrasound training as well as the deputy lead rolefor gynaecology oncology.

Specific duties:-

1- Weekly early pregnancy clinic (scanning and management).

2- Weekly ambulatory clinic (diagnostic and operative outpatient hysteroscopies + minor procedures under local anaesthetic).

3- Weekly diabetes in pregnancy antenatal clinic (pre-existing and gestational).

4- Weekly Day surgery unit list (diagnostic hysteroscopy, all types of operative hysteroscopy, diagnostic laparoscopy, all types of operative laparoscopy, and other minor procedures).

5- Fortnightly maternal medicine and general obstetrics and obesity in pregnancy antenatal clinic.

6- Fortnightly one-stop clinic (gynaecologic cancers suspected referrals - transvaginal ultrasound-based clinic).

7- Clinical governance, risk management, audit, and research roles.

8- Monthly 3 x main theatre list (major operations including laparoscopic and open hysterectomies and myomectomies).

9- Supervision of senior and junior trainees and medical students along with a teaching role.

10- Consultant on-call for Obstetrics and gynaecology pro rota (every third Monday and every 12th weekend).

1- Diagnostic and all types of operative hysteroscopy including ambulatory cases under local anaesthetic (myosure polypectomy, endometrial ablation whether thermoblade or novasure, transcervical resection of fibroids, etc.)

2- Diagnostic and all types of operative laparoscopy (ectopic pregnancy treatment, sterilisation, cystectomy, oophorectomy, salpingo-oophorectomy, ovarian drilling, endometriosis excision or diathermy treatment, adhesiolysis, myomectomy).

3- Gynaecology and early pregnancy ultrasound to an advanced level.

4- Advanced obstetrics ultrasound.

Achievements:

1- Established and led the "Patient initiated follow-up Project" - Outperformed all the southeast London group trusts and nominated for regional presentation and guidance of other trusts to reach success in the project locally.

2- Established the weekly "Patient follow-up meeting" which helped reduce unnecessary follow-up rates and freed clinic appointments for those who need it.

3- Improved the efficiency of the ambulatory clinic, increased the number of treated patients and maintained a high patient satisfaction rate.

  • I am currently the lead for the patient-initiated follow-up project, part of the UK National GIRFT project - I am proud that with my team we outperformed all the trusts in the southeast London region. It's my pleasure that our team was nominated for a regional presentation of our work, to lead other trusts to success in implementing the project locally.
  • I am currently responsible for improving the gynaecology ambulatory services and ensuring patient satisfaction. I am proud that I am leading the team that received 98% of patient satisfaction on our latest audit.
  • I am a member of the pregnancy diabetes team. I represent the obstetrics team with another senior colleague.
  • I am also one of the early pregnancy team members.
  • I am a member of the risk assessment team.
  • Outside work, I am the lead for a Sudanese mentoring group, responsible for supporting new fellow colleagues joining the UK obstetrics and gynaecology speciality training.

  • Teaching Medical Students with outstanding feedbacks - Cardiff University / Glasgow university / Queens university Belfast (I was nominated by queens’ university Belfast students in the past and by Cardiff university students last year and got the honorary title).
  • Teaching Junior Doctors in Hospital opportunistically.

  • Participated in Teaching Activities with Sudanese Medical Association in UK.
  • Nominated by European Resuscitation Council as Instructor Potential.
  • Participated as Examiner for Liverpool University 4th Year Medical Students Final Exams during my FY2 Rotations.
  • Mentored many of my Sudanese fellow colleagues in their journeys to the UK health system with excellent feedbacks. My mentorees are now leading all the orientation and guidance work.

Team working and interpersonal skills

  • I am currently the lead for the patient-initiated follow-up project, part of the UK National GIRFT project - I am proud that with my team we outperformed all the trusts in the southeast London region. It's my pleasure that our team was nominated for a regional presentation of our work, to lead other trusts to success in implementing the project locally.
  • I am currently responsible for improving the gynaecology ambulatory services and ensuring patient satisfaction. I am proud that I am leading the team that received 98% of patient satisfaction on our latest audit.
  • I am a member of the pregnancy diabetes team. I represent the obstetrics team with another senior colleague.
  • I am also one of the early pregnancy team members.
  • I am a member of the risk assessment team.
  • Outside work, I am the lead for a Sudanese mentoring group, responsible for supporting new fellow colleagues joining the UK obstetrics and gynaecology speciality training.
