Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site visits to perform thorough quality inspections on construction materials and ongoing activities, ensuring strict compliance with project specifications and drawings.
• Collaborate effectively with site engineers, supervisors, consultants, and clients to coordinate project activities and promptly resolve site issues.
• Conduct quality inspections in critical areas such as soil testing and compaction before concrete pouring for both load-bearing and non-load-bearing foundations, while also monitoring ongoing site activities, including the inspection of foundations, columns, beams, and shear walls.
• Conduct inspections of slab steel reinforcement, formwork, and scaffolding before concrete pouring, while performing all necessary pre-pour testing and witnessing concrete placement activities to ensure quality and compliance.
• Oversee and inspect brickwork, blockwork, and ongoing finishing activities, including painting, to ensure quality standards are met.
• Inspection for the waterproofing system at different Stages.
• Interpret construction specifications to develop and implement efficient project schedules, proactively identifying potential delays and constraints.
• Prepare and submit detailed weekly and monthly quality and progress reports to consultants and project managers.
• Monitor and update work progress records continuously to support effective project tracking and forward planning.
• Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), Site Instructions (SI), and Statements of Reasons (SOR) for non-compliance and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Attend all necessary inspections per the approved Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and prepare comprehensive inspection requests with required documentation.
• Lead and manage construction teams, including supervisors and workers, to maintain optimal productivity and meet project deadlines.
• Analyse design information and project data to produce concise reports, driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Projects: Construction of Residential and Commercial Buildings

Responsibilities:

• Reviewed architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates supporting budget control and quality compliance.
• Develop, implement, and monitor detailed project schedules while enforcing adherence to quality assurance protocol throughout construction phases.
• Define and enforce construction methods, materials, and quality benchmarks; prepare and interpret technical specifications and procedural documents to maintain rigorous QA/QC compliance.
• Supervise and coordinate site labour, materials delivery, plant, and equipment to optimise operational efficiency and uphold strict quality control measures on-site.
• Monitor and evaluate design changes, assessing their impacts on project costs and quality; manage measurement, valuation, and negotiation of design variations with a focus on maintaining compliance.
• Act as a liaison with clients, architects, engineers, and surveyors, conducting regular progress meetings to ensure all materials and workmanship meet project specifications; lead quality assurance inspections and provide actionable feedback to project teams.
• Formulate and execute comprehensive project execution plans designed to meet timelines, budgetary targets, and established industrial quality standards.
• Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective action logs to facilitate continuous improvement and compliance audits.

Projects: Construction Of High-Rise Buildings

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, drawings, and BOQs to verify the accuracy of quantities and calculations before execution. Ensure all civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS).
• Collecting and analysing data to perform environmental impact assessments, geotechnical investigations, and material testing related to construction projects.
• Conduct pre-construction surveys to validate site conditions and confirm readiness for work commencement. Execution of civil works according to the provided drawings.
• Acted as the main Technical guide on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives. Attend coordination meetings to monitor progress, resolve quality-related issues, and provide updates.
• Oversee manpower allocation and work scheduling to ensure quality is maintained within planned timelines.
• Conduct field inspections to ensure construction activities meet approved quality standards. Monitor workmanship and verify that all materials used comply with project specifications.
• Perform on-site testing and inspections, including field density tests (FDT), sieve analysis, aggregate gradation checks, and asphalt/concrete quality checks.
• Identify and document non-conformances, issue corrective action requests, and verify resolution. Maintain QA/QC records, including test reports, inspection logs, and approval documents.
• Liaising with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers, and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress; Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications. Completing quality assurance and providing feedback to the team.
• Gathering data, compiling reports and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.

Projects: Construction of Roads

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect daily construction activities to ensure compliance with design drawings and specifications.
• Oversee surveying, levelling, and alignment of the roadway.
• Monitor quality control for materials and workmanship, including earthwork and pavement layers.
• Conduct field density tests (FDT) to verify proper compaction of subgrade, sub-base, and base courses.
• Perform sieve analysis and gradation testing of aggregates used in pavement layers.
• Inspect asphalt mix for temperature, binder content, and Marshall stability prior to and during laying.
• Check surface evenness, camber, and slope to meet design and drainage requirements.
• Monitor curing and strength development of concrete in curbs, side drains, and rigid pavements.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and laboratory teams for testing and inspection activities.
• Maintain detailed quality control documentation, including test reports, inspection logs, and non-conformance records.
• Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance during construction operations.

Project: Construction of SM Barracks.

• I completed my internship by working in coordination with the Site Civil Engineer at a contractor firm engaged in the construction of SM Barracks, located near National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
• The primary objective of this internship was to acquire practical knowledge of on-site construction execution in accordance with approved design plans and technical drawings. Additionally, the internship provided exposure to various site management methodologies and workflow coordination processes.
• My responsibilities included supervising ongoing construction activities, verifying compliance of the labourers’ work with the issued technical drawings, and preparing daily progress feedback reports for the Site Civil Engineer.
