In 2016, I moved to Australia from Sri Lanka, drawn by the country's excellent education and research in the field of medicine and healthcare. To challenge myself, I made the bold decision to relocate to a rural town in South Australia for my first nursing job at the Wudinna Hospital, a small multipurpose site in a farming community. At the Wudinna Hospital, I worked alongside another nurse, providing care to aged care residents, medical ward patients, and attending to outpatients and presentations in the Accident and Emergency department. I also joined the volunteer-run ambulance crew, responding to call-outs within a 100km radius. Recognizing my interest in emergency care and desire to deepen my understanding of medical interventions, I enrolled in a top-rated postgraduate diploma in emergency nursing and transitioned to a regional hospital's Emergency Department. While every nursing specialty offers valuable learning experiences and the satisfaction of helping others, it is within the fast-paced environment of an emergency department where I find my greatest motivation and fulfillment. Currently, I am actively seeking the next opportunity to apply my evidence-based clinical skills and expand my knowledge further.
