hospitals King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia 300bed capacity where working as an Operating room scrub nurse also as a FLOAT NURSE, helping in different areas of the King Faisal Hospital particularly Family Medicine, Pre-Anesthesia clinic, Wound care Procedure Room and Oncology clinic's. Employed in the short staffed, demanding Theatre Complex at the Netcare St. Augustine’s hospital as a Registered Nurse and Shift Leader from June 2014 to 2020. This department consists of 13 theatres and accounts for ±70 cases per 24 hours including General, Orthopaedic, Renal, Transplant, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, Renal Transplant, Vascular, Cardiac, Opthalmology, Maxillo Facial, Dental, Renal Transplant, Bariatric.

As a Shift Leader, she is responsible for managing the department after hours and over weekends, stock control, mentoring students and newly qualified registered nurses and allocation of staff plus acuity of patients. • Resolved product issue through consumer testing.Diathermy plate in Operating room was not working called manufacturer and got a new product.
• Supervised team of 10 staff members. Performing Basic Life Support to Junior staff on Compressions, Airway management and Breathing in a clinical practice environment in anticipation of emergency ensuring all staff are competent in Basic Skills.
• Doing Fire safety Drills in Operating room on weekends and after hours to improve the skills of all staff.
• Collaborated with staff on how to document on specimens. Correct name, Mrn number, type of test required, Time taken, date taken, Doctors orders to prevent medico-legal hazards.
• Supervised all categories of staff including cleaners and administration staff in my unit in Operating room on Hand Hygiene tecniques to prevent infection and micro-organisms spreading.
• Taught and demonstrated on scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up of surgical procedures for junior staff to improve skills development and showing how to be smooth, efficient and competent scrub nurses in their field.

· Check patient’s details, patient consent, diagnostic tests and identification pre-operatively

· Assessment of sterile packs and other requirements for procedures

· Correct transferring of patient to the Recovery Room (ventilated patients are transferred directly to the ICU)

· Assist doctors with intubating and extubating patients

Managerial duties, task allocation, ordering and reporting of instruments needing condemning and replacement of broken damaged instruments.

Shift leader

• Checking of equipment that needs to be repaired or serviced before slates start example endoscopy equipment, gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Liaising with sterility department in charge on doctors’ instruments to be ordered as per matron’s recommendations.
• Liaising with unit managers on daily allocation of staff and acuity profile of patients, calling agency staff if needed for the following day, checking of stock levels with stock controller especially if needed the day after example consignment, expensive stock linear staples, meshes, sutures, bioglue, calling surgical representatives if stock is minimal and ordering with stock controllers’ buyout suture material.
• Responsible for supervision of student nurses and subordinates.
• Provide nursing care before and after operation for patients.
• Handle the queries and problems of patient and their families and resolve them.
• Perform diagnosis, regular check-ups and medical examinations and recommends specialists.
• Participated in health campaigns in education of patients regarding healthcare
