- Responsible for the ongoing, individualized assessment, care planning, and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical requirements.
- Attend to current clinical care needs in a timely manner, i.e. Wound care, medication administration, and other treatments or processes that registered nurses are responsible for.
• Attend to sudden and critical clinical care needs in a timely manner, and seek assistance as required. - Ensure all documentation, work logs, and observation charts are completed in accordance with St. Basil’s and legislative reporting requirements.
- Monitor clinical indicators each shift, discuss observations with the Clinical Care Coordinators and Clinical Care Leaders, and seek advice in relation to required actions as needed.
- Liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists, and allied health workers, and inform them of residents’ requests, changes in condition, and/or concerns that may affect the outcome of care if not communicated.
- Liaise with families, legal advocates, and provide updates as required.
- Mentor and train less experienced staff, including ENs, Student Nurses, Student ENs, RNs, and Care Staff.
- Demonstrate leadership in maintaining infection control principles at all times, and educate staff on the principles, policies, and procedures of infection control.
- Always promote teamwork, and act as a positive role model at all times.
- Recognize and promote the values and diverse needs of each resident, and assist them in maintaining their cultural and spiritual requirements.
- Take a leadership role in continual quality improvement in the delivery of client services.
- Ensure all standards are maintained consistently with evidence-based best practice standards, as applicable to the role of Registered Nurse.
- Maintain your own professional development by participating in training and development that is in addition to those that are compulsory and provided by St. Basil's.
- Raise concerns, unusual occurrences, incidents, and accidents immediately; notify the General Managers and the Clinical Care Leaders of any critical incidents, mandatory reporting, elder abuse (suspected or otherwise), missing residents, transfers to the hospital, etc.
- Ensure the ongoing comfort, privacy, dignity, and preferences of each resident are respected and maintained by all staff and contractors.
- Followiing Facility's protocols for infection prevention, and reporting and managing potential safety hazards in the hospital environment.
- Adhere to facilitit's policies, state laws, and nursing ethical codes, as well as ensuring patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Utilized the computerized Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
