Summary

I am a Senior Registered Nurse with 35 years Perioperative Nursing experience. At Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service, my most recent position was Nurse Unit Manager of the Operating Theatre's, Day Surgery Unit, PACU and Central Sterilisation Departments. I held this position for 16 years from September 2008 until November 2024.

During my role as Nurse Unit Manager, I fostered and lead an inclusive team work environment with all members of the Perioperative team, including Nurses, Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Theatre Technicians, Clerical Staff and Sterilisation Department Technicians with patient safety being the primary focus. I monitored and implemented infection control measures pivotal to the Perioperative environment and Sterilisation Department, ensuring patient safety, positive outcomes and I played a key role in ACHS accreditation surveys, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Perioperative Nursing is my passion, and I feel privileged in my role when acting as the patients advocate when they were at their most vulnerable.
