In our study, we are interested in investigating the locust powder as a copolymer in enhancing the polystyrene inhibition efficiency to reduce the corrosion rates of mild steel in an acidic medium. In light of previous studies, and due to different factors that makes the chitin as an important copolymer, have encouraged us to elect the locust powder as a copolymer in inhibiting MS corrosion rates, which might be attributed to the existence of chitin. Many factors have encouraged us in choosing the locust, such as the water resistance, adaptation to different temperatures, and that it have destructive nature and many countries seek to eliminate it. Different drying procedures of locust with oven and microwave was conducted, and separately mixed with polystyrene to work as a coating of the mild steel under study. Results via EIS and PDC analysis, showed the remarkable corrosion inhibition of mild steel with this copolymer in an acidic medium of 1 molar HCl. The different drying procedure of locust powder, has also showed its effect in elevating the ratios of corrosion inhibition, where oven drying of locust, displayed a better effect in the copolymer.
