  • Performs comprehensive assessment for cardiac patient, develops and prioritizes plan of care, ensures efficient implementation of the care plain and evaluates response to care
  • Identifies acute and chronic conditions that may result in rapid physiologic deterioration or life-threatening instability
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members in coordinating the plan of care of all cardiac patients known or newly diagnosed and facilitating patient outcomes

  • Provides comprehensive patient care including but not limited to; Provides timely noting and implementation of treatments and investigations per Physician's order and CCU standing orders

  • Performs Cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedure like ECG tracing according to patient needs and as per Physician's order
  • Assists the cardiologist in performing Echocardiography for the patients if done at the unit
  • Monitors and prevents complications by performing sterile dressing change of wound and invasive lines, regular hygienic care, and providing bed mobilization based on established policy
  • Manages pain and sedation following established hospital guidelines
  • Provides pre-operative and post-operative care per policies and procedures
  • Prepares patients posted for Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory procedures like Coronary Angiography, implantation of Cardiac Devices, insertion of invasive hemodynamic monitoring like IABP, ECMO, Electrophysiology studies, and patients posted for CT Angiogram
  • Interprets results of cardiovascular related investigation and monitoring and communicate abnormal results to physician for immediate intervention
  • Implements interventions to support the patient with a rapid deteriorating physiologic condition
  • Initiates and coordinates CODE BLUE procedure as necessary
  • Initiate's and/ or evaluate peripheral IV lines
  • Evaluates existing drainage systems in place
  • Initiates cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, non-invasive blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
  • Assists in invasive interventions or procedures to support patient in regaining physiologic stability including but not limited to intubation, central line insertion, tube insertion, temporary pacing insertion, external pads application, and lumbar puncture
  • Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias
  • Performs intervention as per physician's order, ACLS Algorithms and CCU standing orders
  • Manages and operates dialysis machine and initiates continuous renal replacement Therapy (CRRT) as per physician's order
