Quality Improvement Isolation Prevention and Compliance

At Children's Wisconsin Hospital, current practices for promoting adherence to isolation precautions could be improved by following current evidence-based practice guidelines. Children are at an increased risk for infection, and it is important that all staff and visitors follow all prevention measures. The locations of the isolation precaution signs are not clearly visible and are off to the right of the patient's door, above the hand sanitizer. This puts our patients at risk for infection if isolation precautions are not followed properly.

Conclusion: We plan to improve isolation precaution compliance among the Children Wisconsin Hospital staff by implementing sign placement, color, and sign changes. After these changes are implemented, compliance among the staff will improve.
