  • Trace collecting in all interfaces: A, IU, NC, C/D, E/F, Mc, Nb using K18 and INET GEOPROBE tools of TEKTRONIX.
  • Trace analysis and recommendation report output
  • Mission target: Main issue that was resolved in the recommendation report is “the missing and wrong Neighboring CGI definition, in all core CS MSS and Legacy MSC ERICSSON, which was the main cause of high call drop ratio”. After having collected some traces of handover failure, there was a cause value “invalid cell” indicating that there is missing and wrong cell definition in system.
  • To resolve the problem, a JAVA tool have been developed to collect handover data from traces, and compare with Ericsson OSS output. As a result, a report have been output identifying all missing and wrong cell definitions. After neighboring configuration, the Call drop rate has remarkably decreased.
  • Second important point in the report, is to investigate, why 14 % of calls and signaling are ended with the cause value “normal unspecified”
  • After trace collection, it was found the operator consider cause value x32 , as a normal cause value, so IN&VAS platforms use it to end calls, Handover use it inside ACM messages, and some normal call with other operator are terminated using this cause value. The suggested solution was, pushing IN&VAS department, to change this cause value in their systems, stop to use it in Handover procedure.
